A Spanish Guitar . . .

. . . in the hands of a Brazilian could only result in an impromptu rendition of 'Girl From Ipanema' in our patio room here in Barcelona - the first time that classic has been played and sung live in our home!

The guitar was my Dad's and, as he died so very young over forty years ago, I never knew if he could play it or how he came to own it. Certainly, I had never, ever heard anything played on it! So, today, after breakfast, was quite unexpectedly special!

The guitar is actually Spanish and Willheim, a professional musician, said its 'voice' was very fine albeit it needed some work to its bridge plus new strings and tensioning screws.

Notwithstanding all this, he magically wrung not only bossy nova but also blues and jazz numbers from it. And he's offered to put it all right if we point him in the direction of a shop tomorrow which has the missing pieces!

And all this, synchronistically, on Fathers Day in the UK!
