Pepper's Perch

We journeyed back today from our week in a motorhome taking in a few small sights on the way.  This image was taken at Otley Palace near Sevenoaks in Kent. It was once on a main route to London and preferred by some early English kings over Hampden Court but fell out of favour, and then into disrepair.  Today there is hardly anything left of it but, squinting through where possible, there are hints of its previous grandeur - another from my book of Wild Ruins.

We handed back the motor home and now will think about whether we want to buy one or not.  It was great fun and we enjoyed the lifestyle but would we actually use it enough to justify the cost once the novelty had worn off?
