The dropped stitch

By Bodkin

Oh so windy!

That Monday morning feeling was not helped by waking to the sound of gale force winds. Both mind and body were stating quite clearly - "I absolutely do not want to get out of bed today!"

I thought an early coffee break might help and took this blip after enjoying an excellent latte and cherry and almond scone at Mackenzies, Cunningburgh.

This is a fairly new place and a breathe of fresh air. (Appropriate for this day!)
Not just a fine cafe, it is also a farm shop with local produce and crafts and has basic essentials too. So, you could buy your breakfast, a fairisle hat, a Ness neep and some washing powder... for example.
Oh, and you could also visit the nice toilet facilities and check on the notice board for forthcoming local events.

It is like an agricultural shed from the outside but bright, fresh and colourful within. The day was a weird combination of very windy but not cold, so competing with the Shetland dance music in the background, there was considerable noise from the wind. Adding to the ambience, because the windows were open, the lights were swaying to and fro on their long flexes. It was interesting. A bit like being on a boat but without the queasiness.
