Templer Way

I walked along a small part of the Templer Way this morning. Note the spelling, this name has nothing to do with the Knights Templar but much to do with James Templer, who had a contract to rebuild Plymouth docks and he used the granite from Haytor which was trucked down the granite tramway to the Stover canal at Teigngrace from where it was shipped to New Quay at Teignmouth. The Templer Way is a walking route that follows this route.

This part follows the south bank of the River Teign under the A380 road bridge and along by the reed beds in the centre of the river. There were lots of water birds, shelduck, geese, ducks and swans and I liked this image of couple of swans in a channel between the reed beds.
