Dredging

I’m sure we watched a dredger just here, at the mouth of Newhaven Harbour, at this time last year - but it could simply be something that has to be done frequently. I looked with new interest at the spike-fortified gate to the ramp used by cruise-ship passengers whose tenders use the harbour: we were very aware of the security at all the ports we called at on our cruise, especially as any cruising we’d done had been on rivers.

On a chilly, grey morning with a nominal temperature of 14C, it was hard to imagine that people would actually want to spend time ashore, but let’s hope they keep coming...
