La vida de Annie

By Annie

Simplemente relajarse.

Went to the zoo this afternoon as it's the last day of my annual season ticket (and I´m a tightwad). I was glad I did as it's such a relaxing place, full of well-cared-for rescued or endangered animals, mostly snoozing, and glorious flowering shrubs and fruit trees and vines. The lemurs have their own mini-forest with a stream and tree shelters, as do the macaque monkeys rescued from a laboratory in Holland. All seem really content and breeding prodigiously. The zoo is a family-run business and relies on visitors paying an entry fee to continue. All the animals kept there are unable to be released back into the wild for various reasons, but why would they want to be? They are in animal heaven. I sat for some time under the laden grape vines behind the cafe listening to the sounds of birds and the water feature in the wetland bird enclosure, until a couple of British families rolled up for burger and chips and a loud shouting match. Time to go.
