No Frame Without Grain

Viannos Monument

With my friend Kel we visited Viannos, Crete, the scene of The Viannos Masacres during World War 2 by the German army. A harrowing read if you've time.

The blipfoto is part of the monument in the village to commemorate this atrocity - the murders of over 500 men and children.

The blip extra is of a plaque with emotional words to make you think.

The second extra is in The Viannos Omalos Plateau - quite a journey up winding dirt tracks. No sooner had we got there than the fog rolled in and the journey down was difficult. The blip extra shows the fog rolling in over the plateau. In the sunshine it is a surreal place.
