Mayak, Mayakovsko ulitsa, St Petersburg

This place is a ryumochnaya, one of the few surviving vodka dens in central St Petersburg. Most of these 19th Century throwbacks were shut down during the Perestroika period.

Our hour in here was mostly illuminating, occasionally terrifying and certainly one of the highlights of the trip so far.
