Agüimes

Today (Friday) Mrs CBL and I hopped on a bus and took a short journey up to the hill town of Agüimes which is notable for its many colourful buildings and numerous statues.

It was a delight to visit the old part of the town and spend time sitting in the square eating and drinking and watching the world go by ... slowly.

There are three ladies to every man in Agüimes and many, many years ago a by-law was passed which exists to this day. A curfew was put in place preventing ladies being out in the streets unaccompanied after 11:00pm! In order to get round the ban ladies used to dress as men (see extras)!
