The Yaffle

This is the first time I have seen the Green Woodpecker in our garden this year.  He was looking for ants in a rather burnt up clump of Astranthia.  The garden is really beginning to suffer now in this hot weather.  The lawn grass has not grown but of course the weeds in it have and have grown tall, and most of the flowers are now going over in the beds.   That is the trouble with an early summer garden.  The roses will come again and the lavender is beginning to flower and there are a few other plants to provide colour later.

We had a good evening  yesterday with the family at the Crab House near the Chesil Beach and Weymouth celebrating T's birthday.
