Little Giant

Grant went to a Giants game with his family.  Inside the park is a little kids' infield, where attendants pitch underhand to children ages 3 -5. : Grant, who just turned 5, is almost too big to play on the little kid’s field but he loves it so his mom took him there during the game to bat and play the field.

Today he got scolded by the attendant for fielding a grounder and aggressively tagging a toddler out at first base. Grant left the field in tears and cried on her shoulder saying ‘I am so mad! Don’t they know that’s how you play the game?  You tag the runner out!"  She explained that rule doesn’t necessarily apply when the runner is still in a diaper.

When I was a kid I loved baseball as much as Grant.  That's why I get a kick out of his passion for it.

"Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game every day, and that's the way baseball is" -- Bob Feller
