Silo Murals

This morning we drove the 30 minutes south to Waimate (my birth place) to view the silo murals that have recently been created by local artist Bob Scott.

All the figures depicted here have come from Waimate - If you would like to see the other sides of these silos I have put them in Flickr

Shown here is a former Prime Minister Norman Kirk, born and buried in Waimate, holding the hand of a Maori boy at the Treaty of Waitangi celebrations.
The others -
….Margaret Cruickshank, the first woman to be registered as a doctor in New Zealand, served Waimate from 1897 to her death, aged 45, in 1918.
….World War II hero Eric Batchelor, twice awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for Bravery
….The meeting of Chief Te Huruhuru with Michael Studholme in 1854.

Our outing was only going to be to view these, but one thing led to another and we spent many hours away and going to many local places.....and lots of photos later.
