Italian style gardens

Today we had a very long and varied walk from our lakeside appartment around the southern end of the lake to Tresseme on the East bank.

The picture is of the Jardins du Priere, which is close by and we came upon it by chance while looking for the Thomas 2 Marais. We continued our walk through these wetlands watching the nesting herons from the observation hide tower. It is a beautiful protected area for the birds and much of it cannot be accessed.

After a picnic lunch by the lake we carried on walking along the shore and in the increasingly hot temperature we were pleased to find a bar with a shady terrace for an aperitif. It was directly opposite our appartment across the lake.

It is wonderful to see the mountains as a backdrop in whatever direction we look.

My extra is of a little beach which appears to be suspended on the lake and the kites swooping above.
