A sun pillar....

Not long after Poldark finished l noticed the sky looking rather a splendid colour... on closer inspection there was this strange brightness in the sky which l had decided was probably an unusual cloud being lit by the recently setting sun..then l turned on the news and weather to be told it was a Sun Pillar.. a vertical shaft of light extending upward or downward from the sun. Typically seen during sunrise or sunset, sun pillars form when sunlight reflects off the surfaces of falling ice crystals associated with thin, high-level clouds..well l never!!

What a lovely day it has been .. . gloriously hot and sunny for a fabulous sixtieth birthday party full of people we haven't seen in an age... l feel well sunshined and exhausted after spending yesterday packing up my daughters flat with her for it all be moved into storage today while she goes on looking for somewhere to live... thankfully she hired a man with a van... two men actually.. what a relief!!
