Ornsay Lighthouse

*backblip*

The last day of our Skye trip (we didn't plan it to be, but circumstances overtook us in the days to follow – I'm writing this two years after the blip). We woke to blue skies in the Rubha Phoil Eco campsite at Armadale. I had a quick peek down at the otter hide and spied a seal spying back at me (see extra pic). We said good morning to the ducks, saw a toad, and didn't partake of the comfrey plant that hadn't been fed urine (it is a very eco campsite – to be applauded!)

We had breakfast just outside the town and stopped to look at Armadale castle and the Museum of the Isles, which was very interesting. I read of the Senchus Fer nalban, a census of Scotland that predates the Domesday Book by 400 years.

Our next stop was the hotel at Isleornsay for lunch, where I took this blip of Ornsay Lighthouse. We jumped back on our bikes for the cycle up to Kyleakin, cycling along a lovely, quiet old paved path that runs parallel to the main road for some of the way. It was a long, old slog, but we got to the bridge in good time. We crossed it after scoffing a well-deserved ice cream, then had another ice cream after dinner at Kyle of Lochalsh. We took a train the rest of the way to Inverness and piled into Fred's Dad's house for a long sleep.
