Mud, Glorious Mud!

For a change Miss Flum and ourselves took lunch at the Secret Herb Garden, followed by a wander round the extensive grounds.

Although the heatwave continues further South, our temperatures were comfortably warm under an overcast sky. Too warm, however, for one of the pigs, who preferred to lie in a puddle with its snout half-submerged, causing a ripple in the surface with each exhaled breath.

In the glasshouse flowers were scenting the air - honeysuckle (extra 1) poppies - I liked the unusual angle through the absent petal (extra 2). The garden is not entirely free of pests, as demonstrated by a leaf reduced to a skeleton by marauding insects (extra 3).

And after all that we repaired to Miss Flum's house for tea and cake, returning home in time to watch the haar creeping up the Forth.from the comfort of our elevated, distant position.
