Birthday Girl

It was our granddaughter’s 4th birthday today and this afternoon (late lunchtime) we met up at ‘The Deep’ (a large aquarium) in Hull. It is a wonderful place - with a main pool that stretches down three floors - and there are some very large fish in there.

I liked this shot of her standing next to the top of the tank. I have also included a couple of extras of some wonderful jellyfish. No flash photography is allowed (as the fish can’t see anyfin after a flash) - so I had to resort to high ISO and large aperture (and a lot of colour tweaking in Lightroom).

She had a lovely time - and stroked some starfish too.

Our journey back to Doncaster was sadly interrupted by a nasty accident on the A63 - it happened about twenty cars in front of us and completely blocked the carriageway for well over half an hour. It was very, very hot sat in the stationary car.  When we finally got going there were some very badly crushed cars in one lane and in the ditch at the side - with many ambulances, police cars and fire engines attending.

When we got back to their house, Jessica opened her presents but she was so tired we didn’t get to go out for her birthday ‘tea’.

We finally got home around 9 p.m. and resorted to the Chinese takeaway for our tea.
