Building

This is one of the buildings at the Mexico Higher Clinic. I thought this might have been built at the time that the Italians were here, ('37 to'41, I think) but I am not sure. I was accompanying another VSO volunteer here for a gastroscopy.

The procedure was quite slick and efficient. The gastroenterologist had been trained in Montreal. Unfortunately the video part of the scope was broken, so I was unable to watch on a monitor, but had to peek through the eyepiece. It was a private clinic, so the cost had to be paid up front. It came to about 1000 birr, or $55 which seemed reasonable to me, but which would be unaffordable for many Ethiopians.
