Invasion

The RHS Garden at Wisley was taken over this evening by the WI. Nearly 2000 Surrey members came to celebrate the centenary of WI in Surrey. Some brought picnics, others queued for a barbecue. Three separate bands played and the music drifted across the sweeping Wisley lawns. Away in the pinetum was an exciting exhibition of pollinators made by WI members, one from each of the 170 WIs in Surrey. There were bees, butterflies, moths and beetles, some were flights of fancy, others were giant replicas of the real thing. They made a lovely display, hanging in the trees. They will remain for two weeks to be enjoyed by the public (see extras).
We stayed until the sun set, lighting up the handsome Wisley building, another extra.
