Moon over Mendips.

What a stunning moon this evening. I am not very up on my astronomical terms but could this be a strawberry moon? It looked much pinker than came out on my photo. Anyway it is lovely.

Farming. - Another MANIC day on the Contracting front. Mr Tbay was once again called upon to turn hay as he did yesterday too. Mr Tbay Jnr is fully booked for the next 10 days which is good. However due to the lack of rain there is very little second cut silage about which will impact on us work wise in a couple of weeks or so. It could also mean that hay/silage/Haylage will be on the short side this year. Only time will tell. On a very positive note the new wrapper is fantastic! Rusty is one happy boy with this new bit of kit. It is also much faster so we can do more bales in less time!

We had our first BBQ of the year this evening. The weather was so perfect. Warm no breeze and a glorious sun set too. What more could a family want. Little Miss enjoyed the last of the day playing while we ate and reluctantly retired to bed at 8:30. Harry was long gone as he has had a very busy day playing in his paddling pool and crawling around the garden!

With this very hot weather I have taken to having a siesta! It is rather nice and the dogs seem to like it too. I could get used to this sort of life. However I find that I then garden late into the evening as it is such a lovely temperature to work in.

Now to horseflies. Who ever decided it was a good idea to invent these nasty little insects? They are just not nice. They tear your flesh which means that infection often follows the bite. They hound the poor horses and cattle driving them mad. As a result we have purchased fly sheets for the horses which has helped a lot. As for our bites I have been quite lucky but poor Sue who works for us has had quite a few even through her clothes and even Mr Taby has been got!

Rabbit update. Grrrrrrrrr! That pretty much sums it up. I have a trough of begonias outside out front door and every night these furry little assassins dig up my plants. This is now war! Actions will be taken to stop them, even if they do look cute!!
