Rags of light

A nice day for a white wedding

We felt great after a night's sleep and began our exploration of Tokyo. One of the highlights was another Shinto shrine, this one to the Meiji Emperor. He is credited with modernising Japan and opening it up to external influence in the 19th century.

It's a beautiful shrine in a green area bordering one of the city's busiest shopping streets, where young Japanese fashionistas parade up and down ostentatiously. So it was great to come across this traditional Shinto wedding, as far from the madding crowd as you could get on a Saturday.
