Voyage of a Beagle & Lab

Autumn Sun

Much better day today, lovely and sunny so lovely long walks taken.
We have just spent a very interesting evening with Coco and a dog trainer. He had Coco sitting next to a bowl of treats and she didn't attempt to take one. He also stopped her jumping on the table, I just have to continue the good work he started and we'll have the best beagle for miles around! The best part of the evening was when he brought in two of his own dogs to help with Coco's training, a beagle called Charlie and Willow, a pit bull. Willow was three years old and battle scared as she had been used as a fighting dog. Both children took to the pit bull even more than the beagle and wanted to keep her when they left. Unfortunately Willow was the trainers best dog, she goes to nurseries to help children who are scared of dogs get over their fear and helps with the training of other dogs, so we couldn't have her. I would have been quite happy to keep her too and was amazed at the hard work and love that had gone into changing her life. Calm assertive is my new mantra. I should really have a picture of Josh rolling about the floor playing with Willow but I was being a good girl and paying attention to what I was told - D even made us write down the main points when the trainer left so we have no excuse for failing!
