tea party

From now on, almost every weekend of the summer there will be a Gala somewhere in Dumfries and Galloway and the Samba Sisters will be playing at many of them. Today we were at Lochmaben and then Eastriggs. At Lochmaben, we played on a lorry in the parade  - the weather and the welcome we received were wonderful.

After the parade and before we played a set in the Gala field, most of the Sisters went off to have an ice cream, but I headed to the Pink Flamingo Vintage Tearoom for some lunch. They have a vegan menu  - I had "cheese" on toast with salad and vegetable crisps. I'm not usually a big fan of vegan cheese but this was very tasty. There were also some vegan cakes :-)

I had a nice chat with Johnny and Georgia who were behind the counter, dressed for the Mad Hatter's Tea party event which they were holding to coincide with the Gala. I shall be back!

Later in the afternoon we played at Eastriggs Carnival and there were plenty of children who were keen to come and try out the drums afterwards (see extra).
