It Begins

The 25th Bellingham Festival of Music began today with a fantastic concert featuring the festival orchestra with violinist Stefan Jackiw. They played Dvorak’s Festival Overture, Erich Korngold’s Violin Concerto in D major and Brahms’ Symphony No 1 in C minor. The violinist looked about 12 years old. Actually he’s 26. He plays like the professional he is with great feeling and masterful skill. There will be more to come during the three weeks I’ll still be in town before I head off on my trip to Africa on the 22nd. Shelly and I both have seasons tickets so we’ll be going together to all the concerts. I love this time of year!
