Was It Really So Long Ago

#GoWild at the Wildlife & Country Fair

At the Essex Wildlife Trust visitor centre and the surrounding fields, the fair was on today. Conservation stalls, craft stalls, food stands, pond dipping, arena displays and lots more were provided, all for a requested modest donation.

Skylarks were in abundance, a bird which Miss I had never before encountered. Unfortunately, I didn't have an answer to the question why they fly so high and sing - we're just fortunate that they do and one in particular descended to land on a nearby fence post (see extra photo).

In the end though, the Great Crested Grebe won the shot of the day and it was one of Miss I's! Just the two of us showed interested in visiting the hide where we saw the bird with a catch so large, it just couldn't get it down despite trying for some minutes.
