Dutch tales

Another relax day

Spent in my brother's garden.

The book got better. It's a kind of slow read. Not leading up to something. It's about an Italian man in his thirties, a writer with a writer's block, who seeks solitude on a mountain in the alps. He lives there from March until October, the span of the book. At first he mentions a lot of books and music and their topics, to a point where it almost got annoying. I felt like he wanted to display how well read he was. But the solitude changes into encounters with nature, wildlife and human neighbours. I really liked those interactions. In their slow pace. The seasons change slowly with the chapters. In the end there is this big question for me: what did he gain with his 7 months on the mountain? Besides a life experience and a better physical condition. Will it alter his life? In a positive way or in a negative way? Will it make him appreciate his daily life? Or has it perhaps given him a longing for another life? Things well worth discussing in book clubs I think.
