Cream tea

CB won a cream tea for two at a raffle ages ago, so we went for it today. The cafe closes at 4.00, so every time we thought of it in the past, which was usually at about 4.00 in the afternoon, which is the time the British have a cup of tea (pace Asterisk the Gaul, who said it was 5.00!), we were too late.

Today, we sallied forth at 3.15, and here it is. What it said. A cream tea. Was I expecting a cake stand of three tiers of sandwiches, scones and fancies? Of course not!

Incidentally, I wonder if 50 years ago we saw a notice saying "For Best Before End See Base" what on earth we would have made of it!
