It's been a while...

... since my last Now&Then Harrogate local history blip. 

The original picture was taken in 1926 of St Mary's Nursing Home outside of the town centre. I was amazed to find the building still standing because I was familiar with the shops and cafe which have taken over the ground floor, with what I assume are apartments above.

Quite a transformation.

I also decided to follow-up on yesterday's dramatic blip. In today's extras, you can see the extent of the damage to the property. Although the damage to the roof is perhaps not as bad as the fire appeared, the internal damage down to the ground floor appears substantial, from a glimpse through the gaps.
