Small Skipper

Back to Trench Wood this morning.  There were so many purple hairstreaks about that the Butterfly Conservation lady said she had given up counting them.  I must have seen getting on for one hundred of them and many were coming down to the ground and to the pond for a drink.  The silver washed fritillaries were still numerous but there were not quite so many white admirals about today.  From my pictures I chose this small skipper nectaring on a thistle.
