Essex Skipper

Another very hot day... I had a walk around the Millennium Wood at Castle Camps and managed to snap this Essex Skipper butterfly feeding on Knapweed. The extra is a Brimstone butterfly on our Buddleia... These are nearly always the first butterflies we see in the spring as they come out of hibernation and set of to start the new years broods. This one looks newly emerged so I guess it's a second or third generation butterfly for this year.
