Mountains & Lakes

So, following on from the mosquito misadventures of the last couple of days, and finding ourselves unable to source hazmat suits fit enough to provide total protection from the little blighters, this morning we smothered ourselves in a carefully calibrated mixture of insect repellent and sunscreen and, feet still loupin', headed up a mountain.

Of course in this heat, we didn’t do anything so daft as to actually climb it! Two cable cars and a chairlift took us to the summit of Mt Mottarone, where we had a 360° view of the surrounding mountains and lakes.

Main pic shows Lago Maggiore in the foreground, and further behind that is Lago di Varese and Lago di Monate.

Extra: some scenes from Stresa this afternoon.
 - a Vespa being used as a display stand outside a high-end ladieswear shop.
 - a remarkably preserved (restored?) Fiat 500, heading for a picnic by the looks of it.
-  high living, Italian-style!
