Firewood

With my electric chainsaw I cut the ends off 50 logs to make them fit in my stove. That was the easy, fun part. Then my son came and stacked the logs in the small woodshed and put away the heavy grade 30 metre power cord. That’s the part that wears me out. He stacks them loose to let the sunshine in.

Firewood is in very short supply in these parts this year. At least two of the local vendors have retired. I finally got a load from a man some distance away, and at great cost. The logs are worth about a dollar each. Still, the Government has introduced an allowance for pensioners to help with warming homes. That will knock a few cents off the value of each log.
