Annora of Iffley

Absorbing afternoon learning more about the life and enclosure of the mediæval anchoress, Annora of Iffley. Around 1232 she was locked into a cell adjoining the south wall of St Mary’s Church (you can see the arch of her window into the church, now bricked up). She remained enclosed until her death 9 years later and was probably buried there.
