The Feather

What is a feather doing on the floor of a camera shop? Who knows, but while I was taking a test drive of the Nikon D800, I found this and wanted to see what this 36MP resolution was all about. This image is straight out of the camera with a 100x crop at 4x6. Quite amazing. I just snapped it hand held. If I had wanted to set up the shot, I think the detail in the feather would have been a lot more crisp. Note the size of the weave in the carpet compared to the feather. This feather was about the size of a dime (should have used one for reference).
