Monday, Monday
I got to work this morning just after 7 as usual. What wasn't usual was that no-one else was there. Not a soul.
And then I discovered that the bank of desks I sit at had no power. My laptop switched on but it was running on battery. I reported it to the Helpdesk, who said I had to report it to the building managers. Except I couldn't, because the link to open a case there didn't work....
That set the tone for today.
I was trying to get home. The bus, as ever, was late. We got to the train station and the driver announced that was the end of his shift. I can't get any other bus from the train station home. And the guy who was meant to take over from the bus driver wasn't there.
What do you think happened in the Customer Service Desert that is Germany?
Did he:
a:) get on the radio to find out where his replacement was?
b.) ask for advice from the control room?
c.) tell everyone to get off the bus and then close the doors and just head off?
If you guessed a or b, then you are a trusting type who obviously has never travelled on public transport in Germany. If you are me, you get back to wondering how much money there is to be made from running a company that actually looks after its customers.
