Migrant in Moscow

"There is nothing more valuable than Freedom"

So runs the inscription on Moscow's tribute to Uncle Ho.  This statue was installed in 1990 but faced a threat a few years later when the Soviet Union collapsed from some city legislators who tried to get it removed.  The Vietnamese Embassy stepped in and suggested that they would move it into the grounds of the embassy.  In the end, common sense prevailed and the statue remained in situ.

Ho Chi Minh was no stranger to Moscow having studied at the rather grandly named ''Communist University of the Toilers of the East" in the 1920s.
