A Wide Awake Bee

Today the sunshine was warm enough for this bumblebee queen to come out of hibernation to explore the greenhouse. She briefly settled on the frayed end of rope about 35cm from the praying mantis. The mantis turned away, which was not surprising. It was a very large bee.
