Teapot

I stopped into a cafe this morning which has recently opened in town, and took this photo of one of the paintings on display there. They're by a Syrian artist called Amany Jarboua. The notice beside them explains their significance and origin :

Amany's work has been exhibited in galleries in Damascus and Lebanon. The paintings displayed here are part of her 'teapot' collection. Amany says:
'The war in Syria means that often there is nothing left amongst the destruction of people's homes but some pots. The beauty and radiance of the pots reflect the happiness and love that existed in these homes.

'Now the pots lie alone in the rubble. They are the only remaining witnesses to the suffering and ruin. But they are silent.'

Amani came to the UK in summer 2017 and now lives in High Wycombe, where she has been helped to settle with support from Wycombe Refugee Partnership.
