To Meissen

Meissen was always on our wish list of places to visit (not that we ever imagined we would be in the market for buying any of its porcelain). We left the campsite via a track through a wood and emerged at Colditz castle once more. although the museum that details the exploits of allied officers was closed, we did walk around the courtyards and look inside a couple of very dark rooms that had a number of bedrolls up against their walls as a reminder of the times before the war when Colditz was used as a place to incarcerate people with mental health difficulties. In the very harsh conditions in which they were confined, hundreds died.

Afterwards we rolled on down roads to Meissen and the river Elbe, past several pleasant small towns.
