Monteviot House

Got the train to Galashiels to meet my friend. We then drove to Monteviot House and Gardens. This is the official home of the Marquis of Lothian and the Kerr family. Michael Ancrum is the current Marquis and many years ago when he was a Tory MP in Edinburgh my friend had an after school job cleaning his office!

We didn't go in to the house but the gardens were beautiful with stunning views of the Borders and the River Teviot. Some areas of the garden needed a bit of work and we both agreed that we would happily have done a bit of dead heading in the rose garden for them.
