Plug

Owing to a move of location an awful lot of these arrived in the post today. I need to replace the vastly superior Type G (BS 1363) plug on our electrical appliances with this Type E (CEE 7/6) or the Type E & F (CEE 7/7) plug.

This plug is inferior to the British Type G in so many ways: there is no earth, no insulation on the pins, no fuse (though that shouldn't be required in France), no guaranteed polarity, nothing to prevent pulling by the flex, and the socket has no mechanical guard over the terminals. Some people may criticise the large size and over-engineering of the British Type G, I still think it's the best in the world.

This is a French one and is nicely made, and I also have some German CEE 7/7 plugs which can be used in either France or Germany and several other countries that follow their pattern. The French made one is a lot nicer made but is twice the price of the German made one.
