The Trusty Standby.....

The noise I hear from outside is not the sound of raindrops falling heavily on scorched earth but the cheering of gardeners who must be ecstatic that their gardens and allotments are getting the watering bonanza they need after all those weeks of drought.

Me? Not so delighted, but for the greater good, I am trying to embrace the wet look. It was all getting too predictable with days on end of emerging brollyless and being able to sit outside and admire the grass turning a lovely dun shade.

Before the rains came, I entertained a school friend to coffee and lunch at the Dower House. Having had our formative years under the same educational roof there was never a dull moment, or a silent one for that matter, as we spent a happy three hours reminiscing.

However reminiscing doesn’t necessarily produce a blip, and so it is the trusty Dower House flowers that get the limelight today.
