Paperbark Maple

Today's the day ........................... to peel

This beautiful paperbark maple (Acer griseum) is in the Edinburgh garden of Ron and Margaret - although it is native to Central China where it grows at altitudes above 5,000 feet.  The bark is smooth, shiny and orange-red in colour peeling in thin, papery layers.

It looked quite magnificent today in the Edinburgh sunshine . . . . . . .
