fleeting visions

Raking, late afternoon

I was so glad to see the sun again today. The air was cool but clear - I awoke with energy and ideas, looking forward to the day.

At lunchtime, having a quick burger while out doing errands, I saw a bald eagle flying low over the broad valley which has been mostly - but not completely - paved over and turned into malls and shopping plazas. I craned my neck to see out the restaurant window as I watched the eagle glide gracefully above the parking lot; it was close enough to see the ruff of feathers at the base of its white hood.

I didn't get a photo of the eagle, so here is a photo of a neighbour raking leaves instead, perhaps wishing that he, too, could soar with the eagles.
