Yes, this is the caterpillar of the Buff Tip moth.
A hairy individual crossing the path and almost trodden on by yours truly. Luckily I always look where I am putting my feet.

The Buff Tip moth is quite remarkable. When at rest it look amazingly like a piece cut off a small tree branch.

Late news. The boat which was built in Arnside in 1912 and was recently returned to the village, sailed for the first time this weekend. See extra.
