The first thistle flowers are going to seed now and this is one of the first little ones leaving - no doubt it will plant itself in our garden somewhere, unless it gets blown further afield. When the kids were little we called these delicate floaty seeds fairies, a name that suits them I think as they float around on sunbeams, often visiting spider webs and getting caught up in the leaves of other plants. For some reason this one reminded me of a snowflake.
