ANOTHER ONE

Oh what a lot of butterflies and other insects I see when I open Blip and look at the thumbnails! So here's another one. I think it's an Essex Skipper, which are gradually spreading in these parts, so I'm going to post it to the Butterfly Conservation page to see what they think.

The thing is, the difference between Essex Skippers and Small Skippers is that the former have black undersides of their antennae tips and the latter have brown (as far as I understand it from various ID sites - please correct me if I'm wrong). Since the whole critter is not much bigger than my thumbnail, you can see that it must have taken true dedication to spot that. I need a close-up and a very big computer screen before I can see it.
