Swallows and Martins

I had a very enjoyable early walk (24 bird species seen). The sky was full of Swallows and Martins.  Many more  Sand Martins than House Martins but its the Swallows that seem to have been very successful  from small numbers in Spring.

I also managed to see a few Small Heath Butterflies and a single rather worn Dark Green Fritillary Butterfly which is fairly unusual locally.

We watched the Wimbledon Tennis finals and saw a little of the football World Cup final. Open Golf this week and then 5 Test Matches v India to come in August- its going to be a long Summer.
