Reading Lesson

My latest attempt at improving my German.  The author comes from Bremen which should bring a cheer from that corner.  The title translates as Bad Karma.  There is an Englisch version.

It was interesting as i read the first page there was a reference to Pumuckl Pyjamas.  What the heck are Pumuckl-Pyjamas, I thought to myself.  Is Pumuckl a type of fabric?  Is that what flannelette gets called here?  

No.  Pumuckl is a character from a German radio series and then later a television series.  It's also something that you can call someone with redhair.  I'm not sure I woudl though.

I have never heard of Pumuckl.  Like so much else.  There are too many cultural touchstones that I do not know.
