Geometry in nature

I am always fascinated by the geometric construction of these seed heads. I'm not sure what the plant is - it looks like an oversized dandelion so must be the same family. This one is growing beside my neighbour's garage.Beautiful as it is I hope it doesn't seed itself in my garden!
